The panel on your domain
Opening the panel at panel.mycompany.com, with your brand and a certificate from us.
The panel can live on a domain of yours. To whoever uses it, it becomes an application of your company: your name, your colour, and an address that does not mention ours.
What you need
A subdomain. It cannot be the root domain, because the record is a CNAME and a CNAME at the root is not valid in DNS.
panel.mycompany.com ✓
mycompany.com ✗
The three steps
1. Claim the name. In Settings, in the Panel domain card, type the subdomain and press Claim. That reserves the name for your account and stops another client claiming it.
2. Publish the CNAME.
Name: panel.mycompany.com
Type: CNAME
Value: panel.c-connect.pt
3. Verify. The Verify button queries DNS right away. Once the CNAME resolves, the state moves to Issuing the certificate.
The certificate
It is ours, and it is automatic. As soon as the CNAME is verified we request a certificate for that name and install it; you do not have to buy anything or send us any keys.
Until that happens the panel stays reachable at the previous address. The card's state says where it is:
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Waiting for the CNAME | The record does not resolve yet. |
| Issuing the certificate | We can see the CNAME; the certificate is pending. |
| Active | It is working. |
From Issuing the certificate to Active is usually minutes.
The brand
On the same screen, under Account:
- Brand name, which appears in the panel and in the emails we send you.
- Brand colour, a six digit hexadecimal, which becomes the colour of the buttons, the links and the selected state.
The status colours do not change. Delivered is green and bounced is red in every account, because they mean the same thing everywhere, and a palette that swapped them would make the panel unreadable for anybody switching between accounts.
What changes on the sign in screen
On your domain, the sign in screen shows your brand from the address itself, before anybody types anything. We do not infer the account from the email that is typed: doing so would tell whoever typed it which client that address belongs to.
And the account switcher disappears. The address already says whose account it is, and showing another client's name there, on a page carrying your brand, would make no sense at all.
Removing it
The Remove button releases the name. The panel goes back to the previous address, and the subdomain is free. You can delete the CNAME afterwards.
